Labor Day Weekend

a REMAX logoSo it’s back to school and the traffic reflects it.  Since they have almost contained the Station Fire the smoke is not as bad.

Saw ‘Julie and Julia’ this weekend and now I want to get Master the Art of Cooking.  It is based on a blogger and Julia Child’s intersection.  That Meryl Streep is fantastic.  We went to the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica.  The place was packed, but the theater was not, due to the fact that we went to the 4:30 pm show.  The sun was still out when we left.  Then on to P.F. Chang’s for dinner.

Tried the new “Tasting Kitchen” on Abbot Kinney in Venice.  Very delightful, with lots of open windows.  The acoustics are poor and difficult to hear many in our party.  Delighted by the butter with salt sprinkled on top.  They typically have a different menu every day.  There is something for everyone on the menu: chicken fish, beef and vegetarian dishes.  Unique cocktails and Mexican Coke, which is without high fructose corn syrup, but made with sugar instead.  We did not order from the wine menu.

I also saw Ponyo a Japanese animation about a gold fish that wants to become a little girl.  We loved it.  It has hand drawn animation.

Sunday I got up early and took a bike ride down bike path along Ballona Creek.   I had an open house in Playa del Rey and was surprised by the amount of people out on a holiday weekend.

Well, I guess this is the end of summer, but let’s drag it out for as long as possible.

A great long weekend.  I hope you had one also
